childrens sunday
Sunday I went to children’s again, it was great. The first thing I did there was deliver pigs with a pig mascot to very room in the hospital, it was priceless seeing the kids faces, it was an amazing experience. After that I got called up to work o n the 6th floor with a kid named matt. When I arrived, he looked very familiar, so I told him that he looked familiar, and he said yea I got shot at Deer Creek, and I was like wow, my eyes were wide and surprised. So I hanged with him and were watching the hockey game Canada vs. U.S.A, it was great and we watched a little of the Nuggets game to, and that also was a great experience for me. What I did lat was just answer calls for about an hour. I go back Thursday and I can’t wait.

My 1st volenteer at Chidrens Hospital
Thursday I went to Children’s Hospital, thinking that all I was going to do was get shots to make sure I was not in danger for the ill kids at Children’s and go to an orientation there. But it turned out that I also got asked by Kathy the director of Volunteer’s at Children’s Hospital to start Volunteering right away, that day. So I said sure why not, I was nervous because I didn’t know really what to do or expect, but Kathy let me shadow this girl Lori who was 16 and who worked there for about a year. The first thing I did to start my day was to babysit for the kids who need somewhere to stay for a little while there parents go take of there sick kids or kids. So I walked in into the play center where I would take care of the kids, when I got there Lori, the person I was supposed to shadow was not there yet, but there was no kids there yet, but until this mom said can you take my baby for about 45 minutes, and I had to say yes even though I was nervous because I never really held a baby or taken care of one, but I was about to find out? So the lady handed me Alex, who was about 9 months old into my arms, then she left. Alex was a very calm baby; I had no problems until he had an accident, so I had to change a diaper, I was very nervous but I got the job done. About 10 minutes before the mom came back to get Alex, Lori showed up, my shadow. After the baby left, we went to deliver mail, flowers, presents to the sick kids up in there rooms. The first room was room 704 and a kid named mike. I didn’t know what to expect, like how to handle it, seeing a kid that is in pain and might be dying. So Lori taught me how to be very gentle and nice to the kids and how to always wash your hands before you walk into the patient’s room. So I knocked on mike’s door very gently and came in and said we some stuff for you which was flowers, lot’s of mail, and Rocky the Denver Nuggets Mascot was there so he gave me headbands and mini basketballs to give to the kids I was giving the stuff to. When I gave the kids there stuff they act like they just won the lottery or something like that. Those kids I visited, and I visited about 15 of them, were grateful and the nicest kids I have ever seen in my life. After I visited the 15 kids, it was time for lunch, then after that I had something special coming up, the band The Fray was coming to sign autographs for the children and teens at the hospital, and my job was to help pass cd’s to the kids there while sitting right next to them, it was an experience I will never forget. The kid’s faces were priceless, so emotional and happy. My last thing I was to do before I left was to walk Rod Smith the former Broncos Wide receiver to this one room so he can sign autographs. So that was my amazing day with a capital A! It was fun for me, emotional, tiring, but all worth it, and the good part is I’m not even close to be done, I have a lot more work to do there!

The personal risk I'm taking for children's hospital is to be with sick kids that are dying, you know it's tough thinking that your in the same room with a kid that's dying and it makes you feel sorry for them. For Habitat for humanity I'm taking the risk of me not being an expert of building, and getting into a new habitat to build and really not knowing how to do something because I'm knew at this. For Children's it will help me grow as a person by being a stronger better person because growing and hanging with the kids. For Habit I'm going to grow by being a better builder, but not just that, also being more confident in my self, saying I can do it, not I can't do it. My most important goal for children's is is to be a better person and have fun. Also being better at getting stuff done. For habit, being more confident with my-self and knowing that I can do it.

interview at childrens hospital
Sunday afternoon I went to children's hospital to interview to volunteer at children's. When I got there I was a little nervous. But what I didn't know is I was already accepted to volunteer there, they just wanted to go over the plan, the overview of volunteering at children's. So I am starting to volunteer in a couple weeks, I just have to go to an orientation and go get checked by a nurse to make sure the ill kids won't get sick.

My plans for the next couple weeks
This week I'm waiting for a call from children's hospital to see when I'm volunteering there. I can't week to see when I'm volunteering, I'm so exited. When they call they will tell me the days I can volunteer there, but I don't know yet. For Habitat for Humanity I plan on going again in 2 or 3 weeks. So till I volunteer at Children's and Habitat, I'm trying to figure out something else I can do to then to volunteer.

first day at habitat
Yesterday on January, 21 I went to Habitat for Humanity from 9-4, which is people who work on houses and build them for families in need. I went with my good friend Mark, who has been there before, so he was experienced at doing construction work. Before I got there I was nervous in thinking what if they don't teach me how build a house, how to use the tools because I wasn't that experienced. But I also though in a way that it wasn't going to be that much work, but o' boy was I wrong and you will see why I was wrong later. When we got there they had a brief speech on the rules and stuff like that and then he spilt us into groups. Me and Mark went with Eryn the teacher of our group, who was very nice and helpful. Our job at first was to set up walls on the second floor, but it wasn't easy. We had to drill nails, pull out nails, cut wood, more stuff like that for about 3 and a half hours till lunch. So My job at first was to pull out nail with my back of my hammer, which I have not done before, and by lunch I knew how to do it completely, I felt a lot more confident in my-self that if someone teaches me how do something at habitat and practiced it, I can do it. By Lunch I was compleatey exausted and I still have 3-4 hours left, but I kept my heads high adn pushed my-self to get the job done and I did. After lunch I worked on a platform, so what we did is destroyed some of the wood off, then wemeasured the lenth and width of it, and then we drilled nails into it for a long time, then we finished. My last job of the day was 2 things the first one was to use this magnut to pich up all the nails over the place, lets just say that took me a long time to accomplish. Finnaly I went up on a ladder and drilled and drilled and drilled nails to the walls and hammered it for a bout an hour and a half, then i was done iwth my hard work. So I leaned a couple things about my day, one is when i said I wasn't going to do much work, i was totallt wrong, I did tons and tons of work. Second I learned that it feels good to get the job done and help people in needs. And lastly I learned how much fun i had even though it was tiring. When i got home I was so exausted and wiped out but it was worth it.
my 3rd quarter passage proposal
David Roberts
I'm volunteering for children's hospital, Habitat for humanity, and once a month I'm volunteering for people with scitafrania at a church once a week. For Children's hospital I'm can do everything from hanging with the kids, from going o sports games with the kids. My goal for that is to be a better person, make an influence for the kids, and have fun. For Habitat I already visited already once, it was great and felt so good when I finished. I plan to visit 2-3 more times for sure. My goal for that is to make a difference and get better at construction. lastly volunteering at the church, I want to help the ill people, make them feel special. My overall goals is to be a better person with getting stuff done, that's what I want, finish my passage, and make it more than great, and to make a difference to the sick kids at children's, do Habitat like 2 more times, and for the church make the people there happy. I want to grow as a person by being a stronger person meaning getting stuff done, not letting myself getting down on my self. Make a difference for the people at my volunteering places, and Finlay being more confident and taking all this to life lessons. Meaning not giving up, pushing my self to the limit when i need to get stuff done and always be a positive influence to others and be confident. That's what my passage proposal for third quarter.
